I saw jets of light shining from cities and villages, and from the high places and the low places of the earth. God's word was obeyed, and as a result there were memorials for Him in every city and village. His truth was proclaimed throughout the world. --Testimonies, vol. 9, pp. 28, 29. {ChS 112.2}

Baptisms this weekend!

Baptisms this Sabbath at the Church, 4660 Headquarters Road... a definite HIGH DAY in our faith community! Janet and Lorna, the two candidates, are friends from the Philippines, both pharmacists.

They worked together in Saudi Arabia. Lorna had a 'home church' in Saudi Arabia, risking her life for God, really, since practicing Christianity is against the law. Janet was an active Catholic Christian, Lorna had an Adventist background but didn't feel it was particularly urgent to take the next step and be baptized.

Lorna was recruited by a local Courtenay store and Janet came as a visitor when another pharmacy offered her a job based on her eligibility to move here. Janet had been very moved by Lorna's quiet faith and strength and suggested that she might want to start attending the Comox Valley Adventist Church here. Janet and she came together the first few times, and then Janet began to come by herself when Lorna had to work weekends. They both began to study the Bible with Pastor Cote. They are excited and there is a whole lot more to this story that you will hear about next Sabbath if you come to the ceremony! There will be a fellowship lunch after the service.
